# Launcher features

Use Noctalia to launch applications, search Monarch actions, pick emoji, and browse clipboard history.

Monarch uses Noctalia's application launcher. Open it with **`SUPER + Space`**, then type to search installed applications and desktop entries.

Applications, web apps, and terminal tools installed through the Monarch Menu appear in the launcher when they provide a desktop entry.

## Search Monarch actions

The launcher also exposes every available action from the Monarch Menu.

1. Press **`SUPER + Space`**.
2. Type **`mm`**.
3. Continue with a search term, such as `mm screenshot`, `mm power`, or `mm bluetooth`.
4. Select the result to run it.

The results use the same availability checks as the Monarch Menu, so actions that do not apply to the current machine remain hidden.

## Emoji picker

Press **`SUPER + CTRL + E`** to open the launcher directly in emoji mode.

You can also open the Monarch Menu and choose **Actions → Emoji**.

## Clipboard history

Clipboard history has its own Noctalia panel rather than a launcher prefix. Open it with **`SUPER + SHIFT + V`**.

## Launcher and menu shortcuts

| Action | Shortcut |
| ---------------------- | ----------------------- |
| Application launcher | **SUPER + Space** |
| Monarch Menu | **SUPER + ALT + Space** |
| Emoji picker | **SUPER + CTRL + E** |
| Clipboard history | **SUPER + SHIFT + V** |
| Complete shortcut list | **SUPER + K** |

{% hint style="info" %}
Older Monarch releases used Walker and Elephant. Their configuration files and search prefixes do not configure the current Noctalia launcher.
